Haircare Tips for Hijabista

Pretty veiled, prettier un-veiled :)

Assalamualaikum, hi all! :)

Earlier in the office as I sat down at my desk updating my instagram and suddenly this man came barged in and told spooky stories he experienced last night during his overtime ...of course I was already on my way driving home-- ..so I overheard the conversation and before the climax I ran away to the pantry making hot chocolate :3 ..certain things better be left unknown sometimes...shhhh...

So here I am in the pantry. Alone. With a mug of hot-choc. And can still hear the spooky story-telling. :') .Blogging.

Ok. So now I want to share interesting useful tips for mah beautiful hijab-ed muslimahss :* .. I snapped this news collumn from Nst Life&Times issue March 26..I find this article very prominent since pretty fancy selection of hijabs/shawls offered anywhere today from classic up-do to the grunge edgy look. I'm in awed for the styles these hijab stylists (scarflets) can come up with :D

However, I do believe the power to staying beautiful starts from within. Hence, healthy hair n scalp glows your features with or without hijabs.

So the hot ten tips:

1. Do not overwash your hair

Do not overwash, do not wash daily, etc.True. I heard about this and started practicing since my highschool years. Overwashing leads to overdried and loses the essential natural oil of your scalp that's vital for hair nourishment.Make it three to four times a week, but never daily.

2. Avoid hot water

Avoid hot water if you want to have frizz-free and fluff-free hair. Using cold water for rinsing hair helps to soften hair cuticles and promotes shine. Well, gotta freeze up a bit to pamper your locks.

3. Go for natural ingredients

If you can't afford expensive renowned brands for their oh-so-natural-botanical ingredients like Yves Rocher, L'Occitane or Body Shop, opt for your kitchen groceries instead; coconut oil, olive oil and lime juice. These are the super star products that are trusted for generations to encourage women's glory mane.

4. Let your hair dry

And I do not mean hair-dry your hair with hair-dryer. Frequent use of hair-dryer leads to hair splits and frizziness. Let it down dry naturally before you wear hijabs. Can you imagine when you hurriedly cover-tight the wet hair with bands, tight hair knot and non-breezy shawl material- how the vapour got trapped inside and how the odour developed? - how do you think your hair smells like once you took off everything? Honestly it smells awful. People around you would think the same too. If you are clueless why you have a series of unsolved dandruff problems, please do consider this seriously.

5. Loosely tie your hair

Girl you gotta let your hair breath! Tie loosely. What I always do is to use hair clip. Loosely clip my hair at the back.

6. Let it down

Your hair has been kept hidden and barely breathing inside hijab, so when you are at home let your hair down- freedom is the key for the hair to have room for breathing.

7. Choose the right band/scarf

Band or scarf is used to keep hair in place within the hijab. Hence it is absolutely vital to find the right material that helps to minimize hair friction whilst keeping the hair neat and in place. Cotton material is recommended.

8. Trim ends

This works for everyone. Trimming your hair ends each every months promotes healthy hair growth. This is because the most ends are the oldest part of the hair strand. So they prone to splitting due to dryness.

9. Stay hydrated

Drink lots of water. Yes water is the elixir of life afterall. Can't agree more.

10. Show some love

Love your hair mooooore! I find this very interesting. I noticed most ladies put a lot of efforts swirling, styling their shawls, watch youtubes for the latest hijab trend tutorials, but put very little effort caring for their hair-your crown! when at home MANY just tie the hair into a bun and leave it that way till the rest of the day. Huhhh. Give your hair the attention they need. If you can afford to buy latest trendy shawls (some may be pricey too), why can't you invest into a good hair products? ..But in showing love to your hair (and yourself), all they need is your time and attention. It is not that hard, really. You just need to make it a habit to massage your scalp. Playfully tangling the locks. Appreciate what is given to you. Try out once by just running your hand through the hair for a few times a day. Simple and it felt good. This is a good way to promote blood circulation on scalp.

There is no short-cut to be beautiful. I have been religously doing 8 out of 10 tips above since high-school. So I'm loving the result today.

That's all so far. Hope you enjoyed this entry. Stay beautiful Bellas!
